Relying on your former employer is not a very good idea when you are asking for unemployment benefits because some states have rules in their unemployment offices that create adversarial relationships between the former employer and the employee. Have you been denied unemployement benefits? If you are actively seeking a serious job and have been denied unemployment benefits then one of the many reasons could be that you had insufficient wages. In such a situation you need to make an unemployment benefits appeal. For this you need to: 1. Collect whatever material you can gather to prove that you are eligible for unemployment. This could include a letter form your employer and your W-2s. 2. Work out whether your extra material is enough to jusitify your unemployment appeal. The formula to do this could be available on the website of your state or you could simply call the agency and ask them. 3. Write an appeal and include your extra material that you have gathered. Also add in a draft stating how you have reassessed your eligibility for unemployment. 4. Mail the appeal to the appellate division of the unemployment official authorities. Also send in your notification of denial.
